What is BaptistBiz.com?
BaptistBiz.com is an online Baptist business directory listing businesses either owned by or employing members of Baptist churches. A user can search for a business through our church, region, state or national directories.

How does it work?
A group from your church takes the business directory on as a project to provide the service and to raise funds for their ministry (youth, missions, etc…). They collect the information from the businesses that want to participate and send it to BaptistBiz.com. We compile the church directory and send a link back to the church’s website. The members of the church may access their directory through the link or by going directly to www.baptistbiz.com.

Each church directory will be listed in their region and state directory as well. If a member searches their church directory and does not find the product or service they need, they may expand their search to the regional directory and search other Baptist church directories in their area. This will allow them to support another Baptist business person if they choose.

What is the cost?
There is no cost to the church participating. Each business pays an annual fee to be listed in the directory. The annual fee is $200 with 60% staying in the church to support their ministries. For less than it costs to sponsor a ball team or run a newspaper ad, the business gets a listing in their church directory as well the regional, state and national directories. They also know that 60% of their fee is funding ministries in their own church. The business makes the check out to the church, then the church forwards 40% to BaptistBiz.com along with the information for their directory. It is an advertising expense to the business for tax purposes.

Who created BaptistBiz.com and why?
BaptistBiz.com is the creation of Larry Hair and Dale Lingenfelter of Kingsville Baptist Church in Pineville, LA. We have seen the need for a church business directory in our own church due to the increase in membership we have experienced over the years. In an effort to support fellow members of our church and other Baptist churches if needed, we see the directory as an essential and useful tool in every church.

The vision of linking all Baptist churches in our region, state and, eventually, nation comes from feeling lead to use this type of service to raise funds for ministries. Our late pastor, Bro. Jim Spencer, loved missions. When preaching on missions, he would challenge us by saying, “If you’re not going, you should be sending.” In response to that challenge, we believe God gave us a vision for something much larger and meaningful than our own personal church business directory. Through BaptistBiz.com, we pray that a portion of the money remaining in each church for ministry will be dedicated to their missions ministry. We believe this is a win-win-win project for the church family, business person and ministry group.

What about members with no internet access?
The church directory will be available in a printed format for members with no web access.  Your church office or ministry group sponsoring the project will be able to print copies as needed.

What information do we get once we join ?
When your church directory is ready, the contact person at the church and each business participating will receive a confirmation by email.  We will also send out notices when other churches join.  We want each church and business to know about the growth of this ministry.  We will also keep a running total of the amount of money generated for ministry by church, region, state, and nation which will be posted on each of those corresponding pages.

What if I missed my church’s participation deadline?
We will reopen your directory every 3 months for businesses that missed the deadline to join.  This will allow new members who have joined your church the chance to join as well.  This will also promote awareness of the church’s directory to your church family.

What happens at the end of my year’s membership?
About one month before expiration, the business will receive an email from BaptistBiz.com with instructions on how to renew their listing.  When the business renews, the church ministry group receives 60% of the annual fee again.  This should create an ongoing source of funds for the ministries involved.
